- Adwords: AdWords is Google's branded P4P service, This offering classifies Google as part Pay per click (PPC) Search engine. The service places relevant text-based ads both within Google, termed "sponsored links". The ads are displayed on the right hand side of the natural search results

- Backlink: Backlinks are incoming links to a website or web log. The number of backlinks is an indication of the popularity or importance of that website. Search engines often use the number of backlinks that a website has as one of the factors for determining that website's search engine ranking.

- CSS: Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a stylesheet language used to describe the presentation of a document written in a markup language. Its most common application is to style web pages written in HTML and XHTML, but the language can be applied to any application of XML, such as SVG or XUL. The CSS specifications are maintained by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)..

- Directory: a directory, catalog, or folder, is an entity in a file system which contains a group of files and other directories. A typical file system contains thousands of files, and directories help organize them by keeping related files together. A directory contained inside another directory is called a subdirectory of that directory. Together, the directories form a hierarchy, or tree structure.

- HTTP: HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol) is a protocol for locating documents stored on the World Wide Web and transferring the documents over the Internet from the Web site to the browser.

- Link Popularity: Link popularity ("link pop") is a measure of the quantity and quality of other web sites that link to a specific site on the World Wide Web.

- Meta Tags: Meta tags are HTML elements used to provide structured metadata about a web page. Such elements are placed as tags in the head section of an HTML document.

-PageRank: PageRank is a patented method (an algorithm) to assign a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents.

-Reciprocal Link: A reciprocal link is a mutual link between two objects.

- Sitemap: A site map (or sitemap) is a web page that lists the pages on a web site site, typically organized in hierarchical style.

- URL: A Uniform Resource Locator (URL) is a string of characters conforming to a standardized format, which refers to a resource on the Internet by its location.
